We built the list app we couldn't find
MyListResort started as a family's last resort. We had tried the shared list apps, and every one let us down in its own way. So we built the one we actually wanted, and now we are asking the people who felt the same to help us finish it.
What kept going wrong
The pattern was always the same. A shared list that fell out of sync, so two of us came home with the same thing. A pantry tracker that wanted the whole fridge catalogued before it did anything useful. Basics locked behind a paywall, ads dropped into the middle of a grocery list, and, worst of all, apps that treated our own data as theirs, the moment we wanted to leave. Read the name however you like: my list resort, the place our lists finally live, or my last resort, the app we landed on after the others failed. Both are true.
What we are doing differently
We picked the one thing other list apps ignore and made it the point: freshness, including general once-opened quality estimates, so you can remember food before it gets forgotten. Around that, these are the product choices we make today:
- Your list data is portable. Export list names, item basics, and categories on any current tier.
- No third-party ads or sale of personal data. We watched other apps turn a grocery list into ad space and a family's habits into a product. We fund the service with one optional upgrade, not your attention.
- Invited members do not currently pay. One household can use the sharing limits shown on our pricing page without a per-person fee.
- Current tiers are stated plainly. The pricing page shows what is included and what the optional upgrade adds.
